Research on teaching professions and education systems focuses on the people and institutions that make up and shape the educational system. Both the people and institutions are constantly changing.
This discipline looks at where the narratives of change originate from, what types of change are initiated and how they can be described. It also examines what is proving to be permanent or dynamically reproduced in the sphere of transformation in schools and universities. These phenomena are looked at within the educational system, as a system with multiple levels, on the level of people, school classes, schools and fields of education administration and education policy. On the level of teacher education at universities and in the professional field, phenomena relating to the professionalisation of teaching staff and phenomena relating to school improvement within the system with multiple levels come into play.
Research on teaching professions and education systems at PH Zurich is managed by a department of the same name. The department consists of three teams.
