Participation in all systems
People with health conditions or impairments should be able to participate in all systems of a society. In particular, the education system needs to create opportunities for everyone to learn, regardless of whether they’re disabled or not.
The Department for International Projects in Education at PH Zurich goes by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). The classification serves as a uniform framework across countries and disciplines to describe a person’s functional health status, disability, social impairment and relevant environmental factors.
Mandates
The Department for International Projects in Education is involved in the introduction of the ICF through the following mandates:
- Regional support for Inclusive Education Macedonia (Council of Europe)
- Special education needs assessment in Armenia (Unicef)
- Design and piloting of inclusive education regional toolkits for teachers (and associated ICF framework dissemination) Kosovo, Moldova, Tajikistan (Unicef)
- Introduction of ICF framework in Macedonia (Unicef)
