PH Zurich is a public institution of the canton of Zurich. It was institutionally accredited as a university in 2021 and thus fulfils the requirements of the Swiss Federal Act on the Funding and Coordination of the Higher Education Sector.At cantonal level, the legal framework is provided by Universities of Applied Sciences Act and the university regulations of PH Zurich.

The strategic management of PH Zurich is the responsibility of the UAS Council. The President is in charge of the university.

Organisational chart

The Executive Board of PH Zurich consists of the President, three Vice-Presidents and the Director of Administration.

The staff of the President’s Office support the President and the Executive Board with cross-university tasks. Nine departments are assigned to the two Vice-President’s Offices for Training and Continuing Education and Services. Three departments are assigned to the Vice-President’s Office for Research and Development. The Directorate of Administration is divided into nine departments.

Outside the line organisation there are nine panels that form the scientific, professional basis of PH Zurich. The University Council is the legally anchored body that is involved in matters concerning PH Zurich and is responsible for representing the concerns of staff and students. Three university commissions work in the areas of diversity, health, the environment and quality.
