With a Master’s degree in Subject-Specific Education, students acquire skills in undertaking research, teaching and continuing education at universities of teacher education.

PH Zurich offers Master’s degree programmes in teaching methodology in cooperation with the University of Zurich and the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). These programmes open up a range of career opportunities in research and teaching at universities and universities of teacher education.

Information on all study programmes

Study programmes Four study programmes are offered:
Teaching Methodology for Natural Sciences
Teaching methodology for German as a School Language
Teaching Methodology for Mathematics
Teaching Methodology for Arts
PH Zurich also participates in the Master’s degree programme in Foreign Language Didactics at the University of Fribourg.
Prerequisites University degree in a related subject (e.g. Biology for Teaching Methodology for Natural Sciences), Bachelor’s degree in Education Sciences or Bachelor’s degree from a university of teacher education
Scope of studies 90 ECTS points (and possibly additional subject-specific qualifications)

Please note

Candidates who have not obtained the recognised secondary II education certificate at a German-speaking school, which is required for admission, must provide a C2 certificate (Goethe Certificate or language examination for pedagogical professions of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)) in order to study at PH Zurich.
