Description
The Peer Exchange Network in Teacher Education (PEER-Net) project pursues the goal of better integrating teacher training colleges into the globalised world of higher education. To this end, PEER-Net offers an innovative form of international exchange that is new to universities of teacher education: modules taught by lecturers from a Swiss and a foreign university and attended jointly by students from both universities.
This exchange promotes transcultural learning among lecturers, teachers in further education, and students; they not only learn about other academic traditions and cultures but also discuss how they can improve their teaching.
The PEER-Net project aims to empower prospective or current teachers to recognise and take advantage of diversity in schools as an opportunity. It is also about empowering students to be able to exist in a global, networked society.
The project is implemented in Egypt, Albania, Kosovo, Tunisia and Switzerland. PEER-Net is a project of the Department for International Projects in Education.
