About

Markus Weil studied education with a focus on vocational, in-company continuing education at the Universities of Giessen and Trier. He completed his doctorate at the University of Zurich in 2006 on the subject of “Continuing education cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises”. His professional career took him from 2004–2008 from the Institute for Upper Secondary and Vocational Education at the University of Zurich, 2008–2011 via University Didactics to 2011–2022 at the FHNW University of Teacher Education in management positions in continuing education with a focus on organizations. Since 2022, he has headed the Department for Higher and Adult Education at the Zurich University of Teacher Education.

Markus Weil has acquired the following additional qualifications

  • EFQM Internal Assessor (2017),
  • CAS university teaching (2018),
  • Leadership training at the St. Gallen Business School and the PH Zurich (2019/2024),
  • Speaker training at the Speech Academy (2022).

He is also a member of the editorial board of Beiträge zur Lehrerinnen- und Lehrerbildung, a board member of the Swiss Association for Teacher Education (SGL) and head of the SGL’s continuing education working group. He is also involved as a member of the school committee of the Cantonal School for Vocational Education and Training (EB Zurich) and in the Digitalization Initiative of the Canton of Zurich (DIZH).
