About
Marie Meyer has been working as a doctoral researcher at the Centre for School Improvement at PHZH since May 2026. Her academic background lies in international teacher education (NHL Stenden, the Netherlands) with further specialization in the field of International and Comparative Education (Stockholm University, Sweden). In addition, she gained several years of professional experience as a teacher in international schools and most recently contributed to a global sustainability study in higher education conducted by the International Association of Universities.
While her professional roles have evolved over time, education and the critical engagement with educational matters have remained a consistent focus in her professional work. In particular, discourses on learner-centred pedagogy, competency-based learning, digital transformation, and sustainable development are key aspects of her work.
As part of the MEET project, her dissertation explores the phenomenon of EdTech testbeds – environments that enable educational technologies to be tested in real-world settings. Regarding this area of study, she is interested in the following questions: How are such environments shaped across contexts? Which stakeholders are involved in decision-making? And how can (pedagogically) meaningful tools be developed? Moreover, her own research approach is grounded in qualitative and comparative perspectives.
