The Centre for Teaching Professions and Continuing Professional Development explores how teachers and other professionals in educational settings develop their professional skills over the course of their careers.

Our mission

One key focus of the Centre for Teaching Professions and Continuing Professional Development is the transformation of the profession against the backdrop of a changing society and – in relation to this – the changing requirements and characteristics of professional conduct. Research work analyses professionalisation processes ranging from the decision to study to the retirement of teachers.

This means that the centre is involved in the academic discourse, acquiring knowledge for reflection and action that can serve as the basis for further development and the adaptation of continuing education and training programmes on offer at universities of teacher education. The findings from the research projects are also made available to schools and their stakeholders in the most cooperative way possible.
