Our mission
The Centre for Childhood in Education and Society focuses on how children grow up in Switzerland, and concepts such as culture and difference play a key role in this regard. Owing to social phenomena such as migration and social inequality, as well as current social challenges such as the climate crisis and wars, the experience of childhood in Switzerland is extremely diverse, and school is both a key locus and defining factor in childhood.
