About

Sabine Binder has been a lecturer in English at the Zurich University of Teacher Education since 2018. She teaches English language teaching methodology, English literature, and English language competence. Prior to this, she worked as a teacher of English and education/psychology at various vocational schools, vocational high schools and grammar schools (secondary levels I and II).

She holds a Master of Arts in English language and literature, educational psychology and general history of religion, a Master of Advanced Studies in Secondary and Higher Education and a PhD in English literature and gender studies, all from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She was an exchange student at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a visiting scholar at Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

Her research interests lie in the areas of English literature and language teaching methodology, contemporary global English literature, digitalisation and research-practice partnerships.

Research

  • Project lead LitAI – Reflective Reading with AI: A research and development initiative investigating how AI and eye-tracking technologies can be harnessed to promote reading skills.
  • Project group Evaluating Lesson Planning – AI supported and AI critical: A development project aimed at fostering competencies for the efficient and reflective use of AI in lesson planning among pre-service teachers (BiFö funding line DIZH).
  • Project lead ETS – English Through Stories: A research project on the use of literary texts to promote language learning in English lessons at secondary level.
