About

David Gavin is a lecturer and e-learning consultant. He heads the Learning Technologies and Consulting (LUB) team at the Center for Digital Learning (ZDL) at PH Zürich and advises staff members, particularly lecturers and students, on media-didactic questions. He trained as a primary school teacher and taught mixed-age middle school classes in the Canton of Zurich for 13 years. He completed the advanced training course «AdA ICT», a CAS as a pedagogical ICT support specialist (PICTS), and earned his MAS in «eEducation» from the University for Continuing Education Krems in 2025.

In addition to his work at PH Zürich, he headed the ICT working group at the Dürnten school, where he also worked as a primary school teacher and ICT coordinator. Prior to that, he taught at the Wildberg school and worked at a Zurich-based management consultancy, where he gained experience in information design and ICT administration.

His areas of expertise include media-didactic consulting, media design (print, photography, web), and innovation projects in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI). In the field of AR/VR, he was responsible for the UI design of the VR headsets available for loan through the ZDL. In the field of AI, he developed the PH Zürich AI Wiki, trains staff and students in the use of AI tools, contributes to working groups developing AI guidelines, and develops AI chatbots for teaching and student counseling.

David Gavin initiated the bottom-up group KI@PHZH, which he has led since 2023 and which organizes further education and networking events on the topic of artificial intelligence.

Since 2024, he has served as Co-President of the University Assembly of PH Zürich.
