Funding of research : PHZH in European Champions League: first-ever funding from Horizon 2020
Led by PHZH researcher Klaus Rummler, the Swiss sub-project of the Horizon 2020 project “MUTASK – Multimodal Translation and Adaptation of Scientific Knowledge for Global Accessibility” is receiving CHF 240’000 in funding.
The aim of this collaborative project between PH Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and international partner institutions from Poland and France is to use AI methods to convert open access scientific publications into other comprehensible formats, such as podcasts, videos, summaries and translations.
The focus is on the “human touch”: media education, target group research and strategic communication ensure that scientific results reach target groups such as students, parents and decision makers. To this end, specialists develop tools that meet the needs of users and can be seamlessly integrated into scientific editing while adhering to open science standards.
The project transforms cutting-edge research into attractively designed, clearly communicated results. It promotes more inclusive and trustworthy science by not only making knowledge understandable but also disseminating it. The aim is to build a bridge between the scientific community and society in order to democratise access to knowledge and promote scientific education worldwide.
The project is funded under the CHIST-ERA call for proposals “Science in your Own Language”, has a duration of three years and is financed by the Horizon 2020 programme.
